Just the other day there was a fatal grizzly attach in Yellowstone National Park. Fatal Grizzly attacks are VERY rare and are often quite predictable. In fact, this death is the first of its kind in 25 years. In this case, the hiker and his wife found themselves (however accidently) between a Mama Grizzly and her cubs.

It’s a tragic accident but one that might have been avoided. First a foremost, hikers need always be weary of mother animals and their young. Bears can be violent but many other “less scary” animals will do just about anything to protect their young. What would you have done to fend off an attack?
